About Your Doula

Hello! I’m Alissa, a birth worker from the mountain town of Tehachapi, California.

My journey into this work began with the birth of my son. My labor was anything but easy. It was loud, raw, intense, and entirely mine. I howled my baby into the world on my terms, and that experience awakened something deep within me. It showed me that birth is not something to fear, but something powerful to move through and embrace.

In the days and weeks that followed, that experience stayed with me. It softened me and deepened my respect for just how much it takes physically, emotionally, and mentally to bring a baby into the world. It also made one thing very clear: feeling supported, informed, and truly cared for can change everything. No one should have to walk through that kind of transformation alone.

That belief is what led me here . . .

As a DONA certified birth doula, Body Ready Method Pro, and Body Ready Birth Teacher, I’m passionate about helping women experience powerful, embodied births. I guide my clients through pregnancy and labor with intention, helping them build trust in their bodies and move toward a flow state where they feel strong, confident, and connected.

My approach, what I call The Doulove Way, is rooted in preparing the body through functional movement and alignment while also creating space for the emotional and mental experience of birth. I support women in meeting both the intensity and the beauty of birth with steadiness and trust, knowing that when the body is supported, the mind can follow.

Today, I bring all of this into the way I care for families. I show up with warmth, without judgment, and with deep respect for each unique journey. Body Ready Method® is based on 5 pillars: 1) Upper Body Mobility, 2) Core, 3) Pelvis, 4) Pelvic Floor, and 5) Movement Patterns. Incorporating these pillars into your movement during pregnancy can help you minimize pregnancy aches and pains, have a more efficient birth, minimize unnecessary abdominal separation and pelvic floor dysfunction, optimize pelvic floor responsiveness, and optimize your postpartum recovery. As a certified Body Ready Method® Pro, I have a deep understanding of how to help you prepare for your desired birth and postpartum recovery. Travel fee outside Tehachapi is not included. Session is split as follows: a 2-hour assessment and a 1-hour check-in to review exercises.

Your body is designed for birth. This workshop helps you prepare physically by teaching you how to move with your body during labor. Through intentional movement and hands on practice, you will learn how to create space in the pelvis, support your baby’s progress, and feel more confident in each stage of labor. You and your partner will practice effective labor and birth positions, build mobility and balance, and learn comfort techniques you can use during labor. "Do U Love: Childbirth" Workshop

This 4-week workshop is designed to help women and their birth partners feel informed, prepared, and confident as they approach birth. Through evidence-based education and practical discussion, we’ll cover the physiology of labor, what to expect during each stage of birth, comfort and coping strategies, pain relief in labor, common medical interventions, and informed decision-making. This workshop also includes preparation for pushing and birth, the immediate postpartum period, newborn procedures, and newborn feeding and care. Partners and support people are encouraged to attend. While this workshop provides comprehensive childbirth education, it pairs well with additional physical preparation such as a Body Ready Birth® Workshop or other prenatal movement-based classes. This class is appropriate for families planning hospital, birth center, or home births and is supportive of all birth preferences.

This 4-week workshop is designed to help young ladies understand their changing bodies, build confidence, and make informed choices about their health and future. Led by a DONA International–certified doula, this series provides supportive guidance, real-life education, and practical tools for entering adulthood informed and prepared. This workshop explores female anatomy, the menstrual cycle, hormonal changes and their effects on the body, fertility awareness, and common reproductive health concerns such as endometriosis, PCOS, and menstrual irregularities. Participants learn practical self-care strategies and how to confidently advocate for their health. Parents are encouraged to attend with their daughters.

Birth, Maternity, & Family Portraits

/ 1 hour session (Cash Pay Clients Only)

Pregnancy and birth are chapters of your story that deserve to be remembered. Maternity and birth photography gently captures the quiet anticipation, the strength, the connection, and the love surrounding these once-in-a-lifetime moments. For mom-to-be, the best time to schedule your maternity session is around 30–34 weeks, so you can show off your beautiful, round belly without feeling too uncomfortable. If you carry small or gain little weight, waiting until 36 weeks is recommended. Maternity sessions last up to one hour and can take place anywhere in Kern County, allowing you to choose a setting that feels meaningful to you. Birth photography provides thoughtful, unobtrusive coverage of your labor and delivery, documenting the powerful journey as it unfolds — whether it lasts a few hours or many. Birth photography is available for home births in eastern Kern County. Please inquire for availability and pricing. These milestones are not just about welcoming a baby, but about honoring the family growing around them. Partners and children are always welcome to be part of your story.
